if it's okay to ask, Do you have any tips on sculpting such small hands?
Awesome work

I'm not actually that keen on his helmet, I have to say, but with hair h looks smoldering!

It's rather unusual to have a male-gendered robot be made all organic-looking and with curvy lines instead of big blocky shapes. I like it!

thanks!

I make the hands by sculpting the fingers over wire first(curve the wire where you want the fingers bent and make them longer than the actual finger would be), bake them, then I sand and shape the fingers. Next i glue them to a strip of thin cardboard the size I want the palm to be. Next I build up the back over the fingers which gives me a good idea of where the bones in the hand will be. Flip it over to the side you didn't glue the fingers on and build up the palm. :3

that probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense. X3 I'll be doing a workshop at Idex in January on hands, so I'll post the worksheets from there when I'm done. I don't have the sheets done yet so I can't go over it yet! X3;;

I'm slowly trying to send replies to all the wonderful comments! I am so sorry if I don't get to, but please know I always appreciate it!
i was wondering if you knew if la doll clay was good enough [durable and such] to make BJDs out of not the prototypes though. I don't have enought money to cast and all
Wow, it looks really awesome! About how tall is it? I'm a terrible judge of such things. D:

Ah-ha! I've tried doing a hand armature and working that before, but it never occurred to me to leave the actual shaping until post-baking; I just kept ruining all the fingers but the one I'd be working on while it was still pliable. Thank you so much!
